Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy is an international journal for the dissemination of scientific knowledge and clinical developments of Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy in all medical specialties.
Photodynamic Therapy(PDT) is also called phototherapy or photochemotherapy. After the photosensitizer is absorbed by the cancer cells, a light source is applied to the area to be treated.The laser light causes the drug to react with oxygen, which forms a chemical that kills the cancer cells. PDT may also work by destroying the blood vessels that feed the cancer cells and by helping the immune system to attack the cancer.
Typical Cases
Our PDT center was setup in 2002, hundreds of patients had got PDT treatment in our center. We had collected a lot of typical cases as following:
Compare with operation, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, PDT had a lot of advantages such as tumor seletiion and mini-invasive. But PDT combined with routine therapy will give us more benefit.
Current PDT always use 630nm and 652nm red laser, Photosan Photofrin Foscan photosensitizer
